In the context of an upcoming maternity leave, we are looking for a temp Global Financial Controller from April 2024 to Q1/Q2 2025 to work closely with our CFO and to manage the global finance team in delivering timely, accurate financial information.

This is an exciting opportunity to work internationally, improve processes and drive change within the business. Your team will be based in the UK, USA and Germany, covering 5 trading entities with parent companies structured through a traditional investor capital stack model.

This role will work closely with the Exec team and Board to support the business in its efforts to achieve its objectives.

Your team will be based in the UK, USA and Germany, covering 5 trading entities with parent companies structured through a traditional investor capital stack model. This role will work closely with the Exec team and Board to support the business in its efforts to achieve its objectives.

The Global Financial Controller will:

  • Lead and manage all operational aspects of the global finance team including AP, AR, Banking, Inventory & Payroll.
  • Manage the finance team ensuring they are developed and motivated. • Ensure a smooth internal month and year end close, including managing the global audit process.
  • Ensure that reported results are provided with pace and accuracy.
  • Oversee all monthly transactions, journals, accruals & prepayments to ensure accuracy of the monthly/annual accounts.
  • Ensure control of, and review of balance sheet reconciliations for all global entities.
  • Provide monthly/annual management accounts with supporting commentary to CFO and CEO.
  • Annual completion of all statutory financial accounts for the group and subsequent submission to companies house (or country equivalents)
  • Manage the timely completion of all VAT & Tax calculations & submissions to the various 3rd parties. Ensure full compliance with all taxation regulations and provide information as required.
  • Monitor cashflow and provide forecasts – Annual & 13 week.
  • Monitor inventory and COS stock (based at subcontract manufacturing partners) and the associated P&L/Working Capital risk by working closely with supply chain and operations.
  • Work with CFO to deliver annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts to be distributed to both internal & external stakeholders.
  • Work with all areas of the business to ensure costs are accurately evaluated and budgeted for.
  • Establish financial policies & procedures to ensure all appropriate standards are met and best practice is consistently followed globally.
  • Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to measure performance and demonstrate continual improvement.

  • Advanced excel skills to help automate and improve existing reporting and management information requirements.
  • Experience of the main Microsoft Office programmes – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • A willingness to be hands on with the ability to move between day-to-day detail and global, top-level reporting & strategy.
  • Extensive experience of ERP systems and their use within a finance team and their ability to add value. Trend Networks currently uses Navision (mostly) as well as Sage (in one trading entity).

We also need someone who can:

  • Identify opportunities to develop the accounting & reporting systems to maximise the value provided to users and provide support for growth plans.
  • Ensure that all Finance Systems are effective, efficient and accurate by proposing and implementing recommendations for improvement and cost reductions.
