The Post

Our Quantity Surveyors are based within the busy Surveying team in our Repair Department. The post holder will be based in a dedicated area office. A good understanding of Word and Excel is essential, along with an understanding of accounting systems, Breyer Quantity Surveyors currently interface with Axim to collate their project costings.

Flexibility

In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post holder. This may be that other tasks are undertaken and/or location of base may change. These will be within the same level of responsibility and terms and conditions of employment.

Main Responsibilities

• Preparation and timely submission and agreement of interim valuations.

• Preparation and agreement of weekly applications and cash collection.

• Measurement and agreement of subcontractors accounts.

• Monitoring and control of costs/expenditure.

• Attend subcontract pre-order meetings providing financial details and as advise as req’d

• Preparation and agreement of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR Process).

• General correspondence on related matters

• Cash flow analysis for client and internal monitoring.

• Manage procurement process for subcontractors on allocated project.

• Monitor procurement against budget and report accordingly.

• Material cost management

• Ensuring full audit trail of costs are maintained on our job management database

• Review operative productivity

Other Responsibilities

Other responsibilities for this particular post contribute to the successful delivery of the full range of functions of the Surveying team. These are to be carried out in the absence of and alongside members of the surveying team.

Person Specification

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Several years surveying experience, preferably with reactive and commercial base

• Ability to undertake re-measurement of work and valuation and pricing

• Be familiar with Standard Forms of Contract

• Ability to recognise commercial opportunities and take advantage

• Negotiation skills

• IT and literacy

• Driving license

• Min. qualification HND
