The Post

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health and safety team for a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to join our team. This proactive role will include providing support, advice and guidance on site to ensure a safe working environment. You will be responsible for implementing safe systems and procedures, carrying out audits and a high volume of site inspections. The role involves travel to our client sites/facilities and provide pragmatic, approachable and excellent service. Duties to include; • To provide our diverse client base on all H&S related topics and work closely to assist on their legal obligations. Accident Investigations • Provide support with pre-qualification questionnaires, accreditation coordination and support and other ad-hoc administrative tasks • The role will include CDM/Principal Designer advisory support to our sites.

Main Responsibilities

Carry out site / office health, safety and environmental visits at regular intervals to all sites Breyer Group work on.

• To assist with CDM co-ordination.

• To promote the company health and safety polices and procedures.

• To advise all on health, safety and environmental issues and to reduce work place incidents and accidents.

• To provide all employees and sub contractors and others with health and safety advice.

• Ensure that site supervision ceases any activity that poses an imminent risk to the health, safety or welfare of any perform or environment.

• Ensure compliance with all legislation / regulations including environmental issues, communicate changes in legislation and to liaise with contractors.

Other Responsibilities

• To provide inductions for new starters.

• To provide tool box talks and safety bulletins for the group.

• To be a key member of the health and safety committee.

Person Specification

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong understanding and up to date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practice.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Competence in incident and accident investigation.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience working as a Health and Safety Advisor in construction, Strong understanding and up to date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practice
  • NEBOSH General or Construction
  • First Aid Training.

Desired

  • Desired NVQ5/6 in Occupational Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH Diploma,
  • NEBOSH Environmental or similar
  • Sub-contractor approval experience
  • Working in social housing – reactive maintenance.
