As an audio engineer at Gravity Media, you will be responsible for the preparations, configuration and on-site operation of audio equipment forming part of broadcast solutions that underpin some of the world’s most high profile and large-scale broadcast events. You will collaborate with other members of our highly skilled in-house Engineering Team, Project Management Team, and our clients to design and build our comprehensive state of the art broadcast solutions for deployment on location anywhere in the world.

You will be joining our team of highly skilled and experienced Engineers, who hold a deep understanding of live TV production technology to fit any scenarios. You will be based in our Watford office but will travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Audio engineer on fly-away broadcast solutions responsible for the technical running of the facility. This would include the following:

o Determining equipment requirements and specifications for specific projects.

o Compiling of comprehensive bill of materials and consumables.

o Compiling of audio technical plans for projects EG Block diagrams, microphone, and audio desk plans, etc.

o Preparation of fly-away broadcast solutions at Watford HQ, ready for deployment on projects.

• Assistance of projects management with determining logistical requirements for projects

• Working with and the directing contract staff on projects.

• Facility de-rig and de-commissioning after projects.

• Audio facility maintenance, which will include maintenance and repair of projects technical equipment.

• Provide input with regards the audio engineering development of Gravity Media fly-away broadcast solution infrastructure.

• Liaison with existing client base and potential new clients.

• Assistance, when possible, with technical issues at Gravity Media. This could be in areas such as technical support via the telephone or site visits to clients.

• Assistance with training of junior engineering and hire desk staff. Office Based Requirements

• Undertake general routine maintenance and planned work.

• Prepare and test equipment prior to its shipping date.

• Work closely with the Assets team to prepare equipment, ensuring it is available to project account managers and the rental department.

• Assist in the planning of projects to fulfil the requirements set by the client.

• Research and source ‘equipment solutions’ to client needs if there is no solution available in stock.

• Assist in the preparation of equipment according to technical project documentation

• Identify and repair faulty equipment.

• Remain up to date with evolving technology and process through continuous self-learning and professional development.

International Travel

This position is based heavily on location which requires a large amount of international travel. Therefore, flexibility and a keen sense of adventure are a key requisite for the position.

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree level qualification is desirable but not essential.

Competencies

• Time management and how-to prioritise workload and asks.

• Key communicator – can listen and understand requests without the need for asks to be repeated.

• Multitasker – have the dexterity to manage the audio desk and follow show running order while using the talkback panel to communicate with the Director etc.

• Can monitor a number of audio sources at the same time to be ready when called.

• Willingness to learn outside your comfort zone and immerse yourself in learning new technologies.

• Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite apps, and ability to learn and utilise Google business apps.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with outside broadcasting facilities/equipment.
  • Experience of working in networked environments.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to multiple locations across the world.
