Damp and Mould Inspector

37 hours per week

Up to £40,117 DOE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Damp and Mould Inspector to join our team at Worthing Homes. As one of our Damp and Mould technical leads your will be responsible for project managing complex repairs in relation to reports of damp and mould. You will investigate cases of damp and mould, implementing necessary remedial works, liaising with contractors, monitoring the quality of works and ensuring timely delivery. You will work in partnership with our customers and colleagues offering advice, education and support around possible causes and prevention of damp and mould. Your ultimate goal will be to ensure we deliver high quality customer focussed services to our homes.

To be successful in this role it is essential you are customer focussed and have the drive and enthusiasm to see through complex repairs. Your organisational skills and a proactive mindset will be key assets in achieving our goal of delivering excellence in our customer services.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking inspections of properties and communal areas, in relation to damp and mould reports. Assessing likely causes and building defects. Providing technical solutions and advice and issuing works orders.
  • Managing complex repairs in relation to damp and mould, including liaison with specialist contractors and project managing major works.
  • Working in partnership with our customers to offer advice and education in relation to the causes of condensation and mould. Managing properties where no defects are identified.
  • Monitoring performance by contractors in relation to completion of works within target times and quality of works. Carrying out post inspections where needed and gathering feedback from customers.
  • Investigating and responding to customer complaints relating to damp and mould repairs undertaken.
  • Flagging breaches of tenancy conditions noted during property inspections and working to resolve these with the relevant neighbourhood teams.
  • Playing a key part in improving existing policies/procedures in relation to damp and mould to enhance the customer experience. Ensuring that all legal requirements and good practices are observed.

About You:

  • You will have sound knowledge of building construction, repairs and safety.
  • You will have experience of diagnosing property defects and causes of damp and mould.
  • You will possess up-to-date knowledge of the housing sector, best practice and relevant legislation particularly in relation to maintenance and damp and mould.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Excellent oral and written communications with a good attention to detail and be accurate in data recording.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective relationships.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
