Front End Developer - Salary £33,500 -£37,500 dependent on experience

Location: Colchester Office / Hybrid

We have an excellent opportunity in our IT Team for an ambitious Developer who is looking to build on their experience to date.

The Front-end Developer plays a crucial role in creating engaging and user-friendly interfaces for our e-commerce platforms and other projects. The primary focus of the role will be on Front-end development, ensuring seamless user experiences across Rapid’s web applications. They work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and efficient solutions that align with our business objectives.

Front-end Development:

• Collaborate with designers to implement visual elements and user experiences.

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using C#, HTML, CSS, SCSS, and JavaScript.

• Ensure responsive design and compatibility across various devices. User Interface (UI) Implementation:

• Translate UI/UX designs into functional web components.

• Create interactive elements, animations, and responsive layouts.

• Optimise performance for fast loading times.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with back-end developers to integrate Front-end components.

• Supports the Marketing team by implementing event tracking and related marketing tools.

• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (designers, product managers, etc.).

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Troubleshooting and Debugging:

• Investigate and resolve Front-end issues.

• Debug and fix UI-related bugs.

Technology Evaluation:

• Stay informed about emerging Front-end technologies.

• Evaluate their applicability to our projects.

Quality Assurance:

• Develop with security of systems and data in mind. Influence security requirements.

• Use agreed project control tools and to suggest process improvements or alternative tools.

• Adhere to the processes and procedures set out in the Company’s Quality Management System

• Work towards the company’s QHSE objectives and ensure actions or tasks are completed and implemented permanently where required.

• Creates, uses and maintains unit tests and other automated tests where appropriate

• Conduct basic testing to ensure functionality and performance.

• Collaborate with colleagues for further testing.

General:

• Responsible for their own performance, and to support their team in achieving all targets and job standards set out by the Software Development Manager.

• Adaptable and flexible in their approach to work.

• Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.

• To be curious and always looking for a better way to perform a task, in order to improve efficiency.

• Communicative and respectful of all workers within Rapid and their working environment.

• Understand how each task within the team impacts on the overall Client / Customer Experience of Rapid and ensure that they are striving to make this the best possible experience for all concerned.

• Actively participate in internal / external training linked to professional and personal development opportunities.

• Perform any reasonable task that is required of them by their Manager.

Role Specific Attributes

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Required: C#, HTML, CSS, SCSS, and JavaScript.

• Responsive design principles.

• 1 – 2 years experience developing eCommerce or line of business applications.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Desirable: Front-end frameworks (e.g. Vue.js (preferred), React, or Angular), CSS libraries (Foundation (preferred), Bootstrap, FlexBoxGrid)
