Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in servicing, maintaining Commercial Gas Systems predominantly in the social housing sector, ensuring safety and compliance with industry regulations. The role will be predominantly in and around the Black County in the West Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that reactive tasks through the site/region are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on commercial gas systems and plumbing systems, including boilers, water heaters and pipework, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Diagnose and repair gas systems issues promptly, minimising downtime for clients.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems efficiently.
  • Ensure all gas systems comply with current regulations and safety standards.
  • Conduct safety checks, leak tests and emissions tests as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain service requirements and address any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure that plant faults and defects are always swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order.
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork/CAFM is completed regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Gas Safety and Commercial Gas Tickets: CCN1, COCN1, CENWAT, CPA1, DAH1, CODNCO1, CORT1, ICPN1, CIGA1 & TPCP1A.
  • FGAS and catering desirable.
  • Valid Driver's licence.
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer.
  • Knowledge and experience working on Commercial plumbing systems with strong knowledge of Commercial gas systems, equipment and controls
  • Commitment to safety and compliance
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • L8 Awareness.

The position will require you to provide engineering support in emergency situations, and to act as instructed by Gas Safe requirements e.g. issuing warning notices etc. to ensure business and operational safety.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08.00 - 16.45 and Friday 08.00 - 16.30, with addition to the on call rota.

About the Role:

As our ASHP Technical Manager, you will assume a key role in overseeing our air source heat pump (ASHP) department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing ASHP Projects across our geographical coverage area.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for our operations team and clients.
  • Supervising surveys and heat loss designs conducted by our Surveyor and Design teams.
  • Ensuring heat pump installation projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Organising training programmes with the senior management team in the Installations department.
  • Co-ordinating work-in-progress checks, post-installation inspections and desk-top audits to maintain quality.
  • Ensuring continued compliance to industry standards and company accreditations.
  • Reporting to the senior management team on key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets set.
  • Working with the Installations Managers to recruit and develop our heat pump delivery team.

Experience and Competence:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Proven experience with air source heat pump design and installation.
  • Evidence of formal or manufacturer heat pump training.
  • Problem solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness including financial and contract management.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise with employees at all levels, customers and clients.
  • Gas safe registration and experience would be beneficial.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS would be an advantage.

Due to our continued growth in both the Gas and Renewable Energy markets, we are looking for exceptional individuals to join our Installations division as Air Source Heat Pump and Gas Installers. The ideal candidates will have previous experience in renewables, to include extensive knowledge of air source heat pump installation. Ideally, the post holder will also have full domestic ACS qualifications, including CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1.

Our work is located across the West Midlands, including Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. You will work as part of a team as we look to invest in the growth of our Heating Installation Division.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BPEC Domestic Heat Pumps, or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating
  • WRAS Water Regulations
  • Energy Efficiency Part L
  • Unvented Hot Water Cylinders (G3 regulations)

Desirable:

  • Air Source Heat Pump Installation (manufacturer specific)
  • Domestic ACS including CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1
